I was the mute Teller of "Penn and Teller" fame. As an act, Penn was stabbing very fine pins into the back of my right hand, pushing through between the bones until they emerged from my palm. He was supposed to insert five pins, but after the third one the pain was atrocious, and my tendons began tingling and going numb. The thought of having to witness yet another pin needlessly tear through my muscle tissue appalled me, so I finally decided to disrupt the act. I soon realized that this whole show was actually just being carried out entirely by myself while laying in bed. Startled, I dropped the fourth needle poised to enter my hand, and it fell toward my left shoulder to be lost dangerously near me beneath the blanket.
